COLOUR SELECTION FOR YOUR SPACE.

STEP 1.

learn or position your mind to think of space in whole it's dimensions. it's more than walls and floors. rather it's made up of walls ( space dividers ) , floors , ceilings or open sky , furnishings , electrical fittings , plumbing fittings ,adornments, soft furnishings and most importantly the type / quality of the finishes.

the above are whole part of the scheme. and it's best to use just 3 colours for best effect.

STEP 2 . The trick.

Borrow acolour theme, use photos of spaces you are in love with , that have the mood you want. you can also use photos of animals , the sea , sunset , industrial products if you have the artistic talent to borrow the scheme from these and assign it to the items in step 1 artistically.

STEP 3 Assigning colours

for best composition of space walls should have relatively neutral colours to act as back grounds except accent walls / points of focus which are best with strong colours.

furniture & doors i always consider leaving them in their natural wood scheme there is abeauty to it. yet with skill u can assign any colour but u must ensure it complements the walls.

Flooring Select colors that tie in with furniture and walls. but if soft floor furnishings are to be in the space . leave the floor in neutral colours and assign rich colours to the furnishings. always consider durability and maintenance.

Ceilings ,Typically lighter than walls to create height.

Now when it comes to ardornments like trim, doors, hardware , lights , wall art among others.Use contrasting colors to create visual interest as well as highlight out the quality of the space.
